BANKS, IAIN MENZIES
* 1954 in Fife, Scotland.
One of the few (correct me if I'm wrong) contemporary
authors to pursue a successful career as both an author
of science fiction and non-science fiction. Interestingly
enough, his first novel “The Wasp Factory”
was published in 1984, a year single handedly branded
as “science fiction year” by George Orwell.
In terms of science fiction his
novels either revolve around “The Culture”,
which is described as “a massive interstellar
civilization” on his official website, or the
