Content:
No, this has nothing to do with the answer to
everything, as promoted by Douglas Adams in his "Hitchhiker's
Guide To The Galaxy" Trilogy.
It rather has something to do with CERN, the huge lab
in Switzerland currently (June 2008) gearing up to recreate
the Big Bang in their humungous underground particle
rollercoaster.
Some fear they will destroy our universe. If hat happens,
oh well, why bother? Just a short cut, probably.
Back to the book: In this story, a group of visitors
have a look at CERN and when they re-emerge, the world
has stopped at 12:47. It just has stopped. Only the
70 visitors are still able to move about. For them,
it takes hours, weeks, months and even years, until
suddenly the world they got used to is shaken again
...
A brilliant book in my eyes, if atrifle long. Still
waiting to see this made into a movie. Not dissimilar
to the classic "Quiet Earth".
